Selfmade vanilla sugar does taste a lot better than the versions you can buy. And it is easy to make.
Ingredients
- 1 vanilla pod (Vanilla planifolia)
- caster sugar
- an clean and empty jam jar with lid, about a bit higher than 1/2 vanilla pod
Preparation
Pour a bit of sugar into the jar. Half and partly spit the vanilla pod and stick into the sugar in the jar. Fill up with sugar, shut the lid. Let rest at least a week.
When ever we only need the pith from a vanilla pod we add the the pod to the sugar jar.
When ever you have used up about half of the sugar, just fill up with new sugar and shake it a bit.
